Start The Buck Up!!

IIIT, Lucknow had its first entrepreneurship intra-college event "Start The Buck Up" conducted by its very own E-Cell. It was an exciting 3-day event that commenced on 22nd Nov.2019, and what could be a more perfect start than a Biz-Quiz? "Jarr your brains" saw huge participation with students from the 1st and 2nd year. Over 30 teams participated in round-1 which tested how informed the participants were and how well they knew about the Biz-world. Only 6 teams advanced to round-2 which had 3 mini rounds. Each mini-round included various general knowledge questions in various formats thus not only testing the knowledge but also their ability to comprehend questions visually and auditorily. It was a test of survival of the fittest and in the end Team "Mbicious" proved their mettle by beating the rest other teams in the nail-biting round-2 and were our Biz-Quiz champs.

Day-2 had the event "The Talks" where some of the successful entrepreneurs gave a talk about their entrepreneurial struggles and enlightened the students with their wisdom. Mr.Neelabh Srivastava, founder, and CEO of NotNul and Mr. Rohit Manglik, founder, and CEO of EduGorilla were gracious enough to come at IIIT Lucknow and tell us all about their experiences with the real-world struggles as engineers and as entrepreneurs. They also made sure that no questions go unanswered. But it was not all as IIITL was lucky to have Mr. Abhimanyu Saxena, founder of InterviewBit, conduct a one-on-one webinar where he discussed all the tips to ace the coding interviews and also answered the questions . And he sure had some tricks up his sleeves!Day-2 ended with the movie screening of "Tumbadd" and it was for sure both, thrilling and terrifying at the same time.

We always save the best for the last, don't we? Day-3 was all about making your entrepreneurial dreams come true through a mock "Shark Tank". ((And no, the participants were not thrown in a tank full of sharks) Each team had 6 minutes to pitch their startup idea and then there were 4 minutes of some grueling questions to make them run for their money. Some amazing ideas were pitched and each team fought ferociously for the prize but there can be only one winner. Team "Rentify" was declared the "Alpha-preneurs" and it was time to call it a night.

It was truly an enriching and exhilarating experience and we are certainly looking forward to the second edition of "Start the Buck Up".
