Equinox World Model United Nations 2020


Crotonia - The literary society of the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Lucknow in association with Equinox:The Annual Techfest of IIIT Lucknow organized the first edition of Equinox World Model United Nations, a medium to raise awareness amongst today’s youth about youth-centric issues and help them make a sustainable decision.
The committee under simulation was All India Political Parties Meet which is primarily called by the
Government/Prime Minister to try to bring upon consensus on a bill (which the government is either going to table in the Parliament in the upcoming
session or has already tabled in the parliament but is facing a lot of disruption from the opposition there) through a private and discreet meet of all parties. The AIPPM is also called when a matter of national importance needs to be discussed by the government with all political representatives to take their suggestions and act more effectively by having the backing of most parties. The committee saw the active participation of a total of 48 delegates with people coming to participate from far off areas like Dehradun and Allahabad.
The committee started with an informatory session by the moderator for the committee Mr. Vinamr Bajaj and was followed by opening statements by all the delegates in which they expressed the opinions and views of their respective portfolios and addressed very intricate issues of the NRC and CAA bill.
After the statements, the committee took a break for lunch and post resumption two public sessions were held in which issues like the question of connection in between NPR & NRC was discussed and the effect on minorities due to it, here the delegates had a quality debate and addressed the agenda in the same way our leaders do in the Parliament.
After this tiring session, the delegates had refreshments and went into the final session to produce a communique to be produced to the press, the committee saw 3 groups submitting their communique but none was able to gather the majority vote count.
It was time to award the winners, the guest for the closing ceremony was Mrs. Mary Samuel, Faculty In-Charge, Student Affairs, who opened the event with a vote of thanks followed by giving of mementos to the moderation panel (Moderator-Vinamr Bajaj, Legal Analyst-Abhijeet Dwivedi & Scribe- Saksham Varshney)  after this the Secretariat, consisting of Ayushi Dubey, Abhijeet Dwivedi, Saksham Varshney & Dev Sharma was awarded and at the last, the delegates were conferred with prizes. Ms.Eva Mishra representing Mr.Ravi Shanker Prasad was the Best Delegate whereas the High Commendation went to Mr. Sarthak Singh(Mr. Rahul Gandhi) and the special mentions were given to Mr. Bhanu Prakash Singh(Mr. Ravish Kumar) & Mr. Hriday Grover(Mr. Shashi Tharoor).


After the giving out of awards the head of organizing committee Equinox World Model United Nations Mr. Vinamr Bajaj closed the conference.

Eduthon 2020: A Weekend Well Spent

P articipating in Eduthon , conducted by IIITL was a great experience. It was an Education-Themed Hackathon which is unique in itself and got my creative juices flowing. I liked this theme because it was relevant to the current scenario in the world, and it was relatable too, because I am a student too, right? Being able to solve problems related to education using technology, seemed exciting and challenging at the same time. There were prizes for the best All-Girls Team (which is very rare, by the way) and also various sponsors' prizes which was quite a lucrative offer. B efore the hackathon even began, we were invited to attend a lot of educating talk-sessions conducted by the pioneers of the tech world.
