GETSETFOSS: A 21-Days FOSS Event




GetSetFoss v1.0, was the first technical flagship event of Indian Institute of Information Technology, Lucknow, in collaboration with leading software developing platform Github. It commenced on 4th of November, 2019.      

A month-long program starting in November for students to start their journey in the world of open source. With an objective to boost the open source skills of the students, the event provided an opportunity for the new developers to push their limits beyond their own expectations and bring the best out of their efforts. GetSetFoss is a month of open-source where programmers, designers and innovators code, design, learn and build solutions that tackle real-world problems.
It acts as a venue for self-expression, learning and creativity through open source. It doesn't matter if one is learning to code or is building his 100th app. There are lots of things to learn.

The only constraint is time.

With more than 60 projects, mentored by the Members and the Coordinators of the various wings of Axios, the technical club of college, witnessed immense participation with nearly 100+ registrations, 350+ merged PRs and 500+ PRs made in total.
The 21-days event concluded on 23rd November with a great learning curve.

The Title winner and the Best scorer of GetSetFoss v1.0 were given to Mr. Yogesh Kumar and Mr. Nishan Singh respectively.
Other runner-up were as given the gift vouchers worth 10k.

The closing ceremony was scheduled on 14th December, 2019 with great joy and zeal. Prizes and goodies worth fifteen thousand were distributed among the winners. It was truly an enriching and full of learning experience and we are certainly looking forward to the v2.0 of GetSetFoss next year.

Eduthon 2020: A Weekend Well Spent

P articipating in Eduthon , conducted by IIITL was a great experience. It was an Education-Themed Hackathon which is unique in itself and got my creative juices flowing. I liked this theme because it was relevant to the current scenario in the world, and it was relatable too, because I am a student too, right? Being able to solve problems related to education using technology, seemed exciting and challenging at the same time. There were prizes for the best All-Girls Team (which is very rare, by the way) and also various sponsors' prizes which was quite a lucrative offer. B efore the hackathon even began, we were invited to attend a lot of educating talk-sessions conducted by the pioneers of the tech world.
