Equinox 2020: Deciphering the Origins


Indian Institute of Information Technology, Lucknow conducted its first technical fest ’Equinox’ on 7th February 2020 to 9th February 2020. Even though it was our first endeavor, it was a grand success. The event was inaugurated by our chief guest Dr. Brijesh Kumar Chaurasia ,Head of Department, Information Technology of IIIT Lucknow with lamp lighting followed by prayer "He Sharde Ma". The event was presided by our Head of Student-Activity, Dr. Mary Samuel.

Equinox, as a whole 3 day event was extremely successful, this event consisted of multiple opportunities for all students to showcase their technical skills, talents and to definitely to obtain new ones. The fest was organized under the very synergical executive team of twelve members and 20+ volunteers,who worked for about three months rigorously to bring the event to success.



Formal Events



Hack-O-FiestaThe main attraction of Tech-Fest was the flagship Hackathon, a 36 hours event . The event was organized by the Axios in cooperation with several tech-giants namely GitHub as our title sponsor, Microsoft Student Partner and  Developer Student Club.
This Hackathon was focused on introduction of technologies and data sets used in cooperating projects to students . Students come with their own project idea. Our mentors were Mr Harshit Juneja , Chapter Lead at Facebook Developer Circles and  GSOCers named Mr. Divy Khare , Mr Vaibhav Gupta and Mr. Govind Dixit.


Students were discussing issues with mentors and they were providing students advices during solution of tasks. Each participating student has presented results of selected task at the end of the event and gave certain feedback of utilization of recommended technologies and datasets. where the 10 best teams of the institute worked on multiple technologies ranging from Object detection to Voice Recognition, from AR/VR to Web Development, we had it all.

1st prize - Team Tech Army
2nd prize- Team Andro Rookies and Team Tessaractus
3rd prize - Team Doc Type




The Freshers' Cup -
The first ACM ICPC style coding contest of    IIIT L  exclusively for the first yearites where the top 18 teams of the institute had an intense coding competition. This, 5 hour long, posed as a great opportunity for them to prove their coding skills and aimed to promote coding culture amongst the students. It was conducted in two part the prelims where the top teams who were selected to compete in the finals for the freshers cup.The students worked their way through many questions ranging from data structures to implementation of various algorithms.

1st - Team TLE HATA DO
2nd - Team Two High, One Shy
3rd - Team Code Slayers

Incognito - The All India CTF event by the cyber security wing. It was international event, we got a huge participation from Russia, Romania and Ukraine, and the winner team is BiteForce from BIT MESRA.

Code-Duo- Organized by Mr.Hidayat Khan, the live coding contest for all the students from every year to participate within the institute.

After fierce competition, the winners were:
1st - Team The_Duo (Shivam Mishra, Brijesh Maurya)
2nd - Team TESLA (Nikhil Yadav, Kunal Kumar)
3rd - Team Brute Force (Manish Pandey, Ashutosh Yadav)

Informal Events

Gaming night
The gamers of IIIT L assembled for an all night long gaming competition, the hall was RGB, just the way the gamers like it, The fierce competitions was held in CS go, Fifa and NFS Most Wanted.

The event concluded with an inspiring closing speech from the dignitaries and the event leads hoping to see EQUINOX come back with its second version, bigger and better.


The winners were announced and awarded by the respective organizers with prizes and certificates. Last but not the least, as the DJ belted out the latest EDMs and Bollywood beats, students let their hair down and got grooving, girls and boys alike.

Eduthon 2020: A Weekend Well Spent

P articipating in Eduthon , conducted by IIITL was a great experience. It was an Education-Themed Hackathon which is unique in itself and got my creative juices flowing. I liked this theme because it was relevant to the current scenario in the world, and it was relatable too, because I am a student too, right? Being able to solve problems related to education using technology, seemed exciting and challenging at the same time. There were prizes for the best All-Girls Team (which is very rare, by the way) and also various sponsors' prizes which was quite a lucrative offer. B efore the hackathon even began, we were invited to attend a lot of educating talk-sessions conducted by the pioneers of the tech world. The ones that I liked were " We are all Data Scientists " by Krish Naik and " Brand building and leveraging Linkedin " by Madhav Bahl . These were insightful and gave me a new perspective.
